FAECAL OCCULT BLOOD TEST - FOBT
The easiest and simplest examination for early bowel cancer detection is alas also much less precise compared to colonoscopy. It consists of taking a stool sample, which is then chemically analyzed for microscopic traces of blood. However, a FOBT test on its own is not sufficient to establish a diagnosis. Aside from the presence of a tumour, a positive test result can also indicate the presence of polyps, Crohn's disease, or diverticulitis.
Colonoscopy is recommended.in the case of a positive FOBT result.
